The stars are strong tonight
“They’re yelling “F#*K You!” to the artificial light;
The virgins in their cars are singing “Wha Wha Wha”
as they leer into the bars
Ch:
And I can see that love has made you brave
you wore a V-Neck in a way
that I interpret would lead me to your arms
if I am perfect with my charm.
V2:
I slid into your sight
and you said “Bitch! What’s up?!”
and it made me smile.
I flirted with my eyes;
you started laughing like a little child.

Notes:
This song was inspired by a series of events. Mainly it’s due to a girl I have had an on again, off-again crush on for a while. The first time I saw her, she was resplendent. Yet I think I did a good job of not being so obvious how much I thought she was so damn beautiful. So that’s where I get that whole “you wore your v-neck in a way”, though she was not wearing a v-neck but something a touch more classy.
I thought of the verse first line a couple of days ago, when I got out of the L train. I looked up at the sky, and marveled at how the stars shone firmly, even though there were streetlights and lights from stores and all these other unnatural lights shining all around. So I literally mouthed those two lines and luckily a melody collided with the words when I spoke it. Then I laughed.
On verse 2, I have many female-coworkers, and we had a conversation 2 weeks ago about how girls in my company call each other “bitch” as if it didn’t mean anything negative. I was honestly fascinated about that. So I threw it in the song. I thought it would be interesting if the girl I liked called me a bitch.
Let me say that again. I thought it would be interesting if the girl I liked called me a bitch. Well, maybe in the appropriate context. I don’t think it would be too sweet if she said that to me in front of my mom or something.
The last line of the 2nd verse happened a few days ago. I was at work, and passed by a Filipina nurse, probably in her early twenties. I could tell from afar that she was pretty, but I didn’t think anything about it. But then as I got close she was doing this crazy flirty thing with her eyes, that it didn’t register with me until a few seconds after I passed her. I realized then that she was flirting with me, and I started to laugh a lot when that realization hit me. Usually I am really dense in interpreting those type of signals, but her flirting was so obvious, I was flattered and highly amused by it.
Let me say that again. I was flattered and highly amused by it.
Anyway, this version I have up (or will put up soon) is a super rough demo version of the song. I intend for it to be a bar-singing song. I think that would be fun, to get a bunch of drunken people in a bar or club or church to shout out those swear lines. Heck, it would be fun to have anyone shout those out, no matter what there state of inebriation or teetotalism is.
