Flood and Flame - 1st song I wrote for the New...
I finished writing this song, and recorded a good version of it today. It’s a sad song, in contrast to all my other stuff. I’ll have it up sometime by the end of this week, for a day or two. This song will be on the upcoming FREE download album coming out in Spring.

As a Filipino-American and Asian-American who’s lived in New York almost his entire life, the last and only time I’ve been a New York Knicks fan was during the early 90s. I remember fondly how my my father, little brother, the occasional relative or family friend, and I would would watch the Knicks after mom’s epic mealtime of rice, Filipino dish comprised of something meaty...

6. Low Anthem - To Them Ghosts Who Write History Books

To me, another beautiful song about mortality, impermanence, sacredness of life. I’m also recently rediscovering how beautiful the clarinet can be when used tastefullly in song…all because of this band.

My favorite songs of 2011 - Part 1 of 2.
All the songs below here were songs I first heard in 2011, though they might not have been released this year. They all rocked my world…and made me feel less afraid of my mortality.
Here’s my top 6 songs (out of 12).

i just got the wind knocked out me.
I just found out from Facebook that a good friend of mine with whom I had lost contact and hadn’t seen in more than 11 years, passed away last year.
We became friends through music. Ralph was in my music theory class and also an amazing jazz drummer. During my time in Binghamton, we were in the official jazz band and also were in a hotshot jazz quartet (with me on the alto sax). Our...

I want to talk you
and to see your face
and tell you how you are beautiful
and tell you how you are beautiful
I want to talk you
but I’m so ashamed
forgive me for all the pain i’ve caused
forgive me for all the pain I’ve caused

way gone - new song - notes and lyrics
I was writing this song as I stuck my head out the window for minutes at a time while driving 65 mph, on route I-78 at 4 AM. Right after I opened up for Mike Doughty. I didn’t write the whole song like that, but I think part of the second verse.
This song is about the gradual lost of humanity that a person goes through…. when working and living in a system that puts profits over...

0:00-0:02 - We are introduced to Rebecca Black, and Ark Music Factory. I conjecture that Ark Music Factory founder Clarence Jay named his company after two passions of his:The Biblical flood of the Old Testament (Noah’s Ark) and perennial 90’s dance group C&C Music Factory (Gonna Make You Sweat Til’ You Bleed).

My first memory involved music
It was in San Diego, after my parents left for work. A sunny day, though for some reason, I seem to remember the colors of the room muted. Sunlight sifted through the shades, forming shadows of train tracks along the walls.
I was crying incessantly because I didn’t want to see my parents go. I was hysterical. I felt like I would never see them again. I don’t understand why I felt that...

We got the clues from maps and faded photographs move forward, we would pass the sadness of our lives at first, we had our doubts (that) we’d find the ivory tower and wasted all this time in useless sacrifice but you were awfully kind the spirit from your eyes burned brighter than this trial there’s only half a mile (to go)

V-Neck. New Song. Lyrics and Notes.
The stars are strong tonight
“They’re yelling “F#*K You!” to the artificial light;
The virgins in their cars are singing “Wha Wha Wha”
as they leer into the bars
Ch:
And I can see that love has made you brave
you wore a V-Neck in a way
that I interpret would lead me to your arms
if I am perfect with my charm.
V2:
I slid into your sight
and you said...

new song - "Love Song to an Insomniac"
v1:
In search of the dream that you almost forgot;
the silent film screen had you dancing a lot;
the image was tangled in verse;
you were blessed with a curse -
of imaginary friends who never let you down/
they flew from Pari(s) with their heads in the clouds
and they said you have nothing to prove/
they were there just for you
v2:
And you lie awake as the night’s giving birth to the...

hayop ka - 1st verse and chorus
pagkatapos mo siyang gamitin uulitin naniniwalang walang nangyari naniwalang hindi mali
after you use her,
you repeat
you believe that nothing has happened
you believe that you didn’t do any wrong
humaharap sa mundo malinis ang damdamin; alam ko ang katotohanan alam ko kung sino ka
you face the world with a clean conscience
well, I know the truth
I know who you really are
